OXFORD, Ohio - The IPFW Mastodons placed fourth of ten teams at the University of Cincinnati Women's Collegiate Open. The `Don squad carded scores of 332, 335 and 339 over the three rounds to score a combined total of 1,006.
Host Cincinnati won the event with a three-round score of 943, while Butler (990) and Youngstown State (992) finished ahead of IPFW.
Jillian Speece paced the `Dons in the event by tying for eighth place overall, carding a three-round total of 241 (83-81-77). Nikki LeRose (84-83-88=255) and Alison Rathsman (87-85-85=257) placed in a tie of 26th and 32nd, respectively. Abbey Waltke placed 35th with scores of 83, 86 and 91, totaling 260 strokes, with first-round leader Nicolle Geyer finishing fifth on the squad after carding rounds of 82, 92 and 89 for a total of 263.
The squad next takes to the road to Libertyville, Illinois on Monday and Tuesday, April 14 and 15, where they will compete in the Loyola Rambler Invitational in preparation for the Summit League Championships a week later.
