IPFW in 10th After First Day of Summit Championships

MACOMB, Ill. - The IPFW Mastodon men's golf team currently sits in 10th place after the first of three days of competition at the Summit League Championships, hosted by Western Illinois University.
IPFW shot a team first-round score of 310, one behind ninth place Centenary and seven behind eighth place Oakland. North Dakota State is the current leader after their team score of a three-under-par 285. UMKC (289) sits in second place while host Western Illinois and Oral Roberts are tied for third place with a 294. South Dakota State and Southern Utah finished the first 18 holes tied with a 298, with IUPUI's score of 299 good for seventh.
Patrick Kelley is the first-round leader for the `Dons, carding an 18-hole score of 74, two strokes over par. Andy Campbell and Hartley Mcleod finished a stroke apart, Campbell shooting a 77, placing him in a tie of 31st and McLeod a 78, tying for 41st place. Tyler Haire rounded out the scoring quartet for IPFW, shooting an 81 for 47th place. Nathan Hoff shot a first-round 84, placing him 50th in the field.
The squad takes back to the course tomorrow to compete in the second of three rounds to decide an automatic berth into the NCAA Championships.
