IPFW Ties North Dakota State in Shootout

Fort Wayne, IN- In a physical match that went into double-overtime, the IPFW women's soccer team tied the North Dakota State Bison 1-1, Friday evening at Hefner Field in Fort Wayne, IN. The tie puts IPFW at 0-8-1 on the year.
The match was scoreless for the majority of the first half, until freshman Tara O'Toole scored her first goal of the season, to make the score 1-0. Freshman Kateri Till received the assist on the goal after floating the ball to O'Toole, who then scored. The Mastodons went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, the 'Dons played aggressive defense and held the Bison scoreless until the 76th mark, when North Dakota State's Laura Murphy scored from 12 yards out, to draw the score even, 1-1. As the horn sounded for the end of regulation, the match remained tied 1-1.
Both teams produced three shots each in the two overtime periods, but none could find the back of the net.
In the tie, freshman goalkeeper Meagan McLaughlin made brilliant saves all evening, and finished with seven saves. On offense, IPFW fired 10 shots and 2 shots on goal in the match. Both shots on goal came from O'Toole.
Next up for IPFW is a home game this Sunday at Hefner Field against South Dakota State. Game time is set for 1 p.m. ET.
