Dayton Invitational: Round One Results
Dayton, OH- In a field loaded with many top teams from across the Midwest, the IPFW men's golf team sits in 2nd place after 18 holes at the Dayton Flyer Invitational. The Mastodons will look for a strong finish with 18 holes left on Tuesday.
IPFW fired a 303 team total on Monday, trailing MAC opponent and current tournament-leader Toledo (298) by five strokes. The Mastodons are one stroke ahead of Evansville (304) and two shots clear of Ball State and Wright State (304).
Sophomore Ryan Olbin carded the best round of the day for IPFW, shooting a one-over, 72. He sits in 2nd place overall after round one.
Senior Jon Balyeat and freshman Bruno Carvalho also turned in good rounds on Monday, as each fired a five-over 76. The duo are tied for 16th place heading into tomorrow.
Freshman Drew Imel continued to have his score count this season, firing a 79 in round one. Johnny McMillen rounded out the IPFW scoring on Monday with an 81.
The second and final round will begin tomorrow morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The tournament is being played at the Stanley Allyn-designed NCR Country Club.
