IPFW Ends Fall Schedule on High Note

Dayton Flyer Invitational: Final Results
Dayton, OH- After an impressive showing on day one, the IPFW men's golf team played well once again on Tuesday, shooting a 308 team total to finish in a tie for 6th place at the Dayton Flyer Invitational.
The Mastodons (611) finished 15 strokes behind tournament champion Ball State, who ended the event with a 596. Toledo took runner-up honors (601), followed by Bowling Green (604) and Malone (606). The 'Dons held off a boatload of tough competition this week, as 16 teams were invited to this year's event.
Sophomore Ryan Olbin had another good round for IPFW at the tournament, firing a 77 in round two, good enough for a 5th place finish in the individual competition.
Freshman Drew Imel played steady on Tuesday, with a 76 in the final round, ending in the event in 37th place.
Freshman Bruno Carvalho fired another round in the 70s, a 78 in round two, placing him in 29th place overall. Echoing Carvalho with a 77 on Tuesday was Johnny McMillen, who improved on the final day of play to finish in 53rd place.
Team captain Jon Balyeat struggled on the final 18 holes at the NCR Country Club, shooting an 87, which placed him in 78th place overall. Despite the tough finish, Balyeat played well for the IPFW this fall.
With the conclusion of the Dayton Flyer Invitational, the men's golf team will now focus their sights and goals on the 2010 spring season.
