Tulsa, OK - IPFW's 2009 Summit League opener is one they would like to forget. Not much went right for the Mastodons in a 19-0 loss at Oral Roberts on Friday night at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
The 'Dons committed seven errors and managed just two hits in the loss.
Oral Roberts (9-8, 1-0 SL) got a stellar pitching performance from starter Andre Lamontange who surrendered just a pair of Joel Washko doubles in seven innings of work. He struck out 13 while walking just two. It was Lamontange's first win of the season.
Brett Burch, Kyle Price, and Danny Duffy each homered for the Golden Eagles.
IPFW starter Tyler Baatz took the loss (0-3). He gave up 15 runs (just five earned) on eight hits over 5.0 innings of work. He walked and fanned five.
With the loss, IPFW's two-game win streak was snapped. The Mastodons fall to 7-15 and 0-1 in Summit League play.
The two teams will play a double header on Saturday afternoon at Johnson Stadium with the first pitch being thrown at 2:00 p.m.
