Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational: Day One Results
Muncie, IN- After 36 holes at the Earl Yestersmeier Invitational hosted by Ball State, the IPFW men's golf team stands in 12th place in the 15 team field. The third and final round will conclude tomorrow afternoon at the Delaware Country Club.
As a team, the Mastodons carded a first-day total 615 (+55). Bowling Green leads the team competition with a 556 (4-) stroke total.
Through two rounds of play, senior Jon Balyeat leads the Mastodons with a 150, placing him tied for 34th individually. After posting a 76 in the first round, Balyeat played two strokes better in the afternoon session, firing a two-over, 74.
Curtis Coverstone is tied for 55th place through two rounds after turning in a 154 (77-77). Tomaz Pinheiro shot a 155 (77-78) and is tied for 59th. Drew Imel is tied for 60th at 156 with rounds of 76 and 80. One stroke back is Bruno Carvalho, who rounds out the IPFW starting five with a 36-hole total of 157 (77-80), placing him tied for 65th.
Leading the individual competition is Bowling Green's Drew Preston, who fired a two round total of 132 (65-67). Preston has a seven stroke lead over Ball State's Eric Skillman, heading into Tuesday.
The Mastodons will try and close the gap bright and early tomorrow morning with a 9:00 shotgun start.
