SAPPHIRE, N.C. - A one-under 70 has sophomore Drew Imel inside the top ten and atop the IPFW lineup, as the Mastodons' opening round 299 has them tied for 14th in the Hummingbird Intercollegiate.
Imel, who currently carries the team's lowest scoring average, posted the opening round 70, setting his new low for the 2010 season. He currently rests in eighth place overall.
The next pair of 'Don sit six strokes behind Imel at 76 in senior Ryan Olbin and Bruno Carvalho. The duo are in a pack tied for 62nd place overall. Junior John McMillen is another stroke back at 77 overall in a tie for 73rd place.
Tomaz Pinhheiro rounded out the IPFW lineup in a tie for 89th place overall at 9 (80).
As a team, IPFW is currently tied with Akron at 299 - one of the best team totals for IPFW so far in the Fall season. Adam Hoffman of Vanderbilt fired a red-hot 66 in the opening round to own the early medalist honors and has his team in line for the team title as well.
