Men's Golf Finishes in 11th Place at Don Benbow Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - After 36 holes at the Don Benbow Invitational hosted by Butler University, the IPFW men's golf team finished in 11th place in the overall standings.
The Mastodons fired a two-day total of 615. On Monday, the 'Dons fired a 311, and improved on Tuesday with a 304.
Laval took the overall team title with a 573, with totals of 284 and 289. Armstrong Atlantic finished in second place with a 575. Florida Atlantic placed third one stroke behind with a 576.
IPFW was led by Drew Imel and Ryan Olbin. The pair finished in a tie for 30th place with totals of 151. Imel shot a 76 in round one, followed by a 75 in round two. Olbin put together rounds of 78, and a team-best 73 on Tuesday.
Jon Balyeat finished tied for 46th place with a 155 (77-78). Jacob Bailey fired four shots more with a 159 (81-78), good enough for a tie for 62nd place. Johnny McMillen rounded out the Mastodon scoring with rounds of 80 and 87, placing in 81st.
In addition to the team scoring, head coach Billy King sent out three players to compete in the individual competition.
Tomaz Pinheiro recovered nicely in round two with a 73 to go with a first round of 89, finishing with a 164 and a 74th place finish. Curtis Coverstone finished in a tie for 78th place with a 165, and Michael Jenkins ended IPFW's tournament with a 166 and a 80th place finish.
The Mastodons will return to the Midwest for its next competition at the Adidas Indiana Invitational, hosted by Indiana University. The two-day event will take place on April 3-4, with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. EST.
