
Zimmerman Paces 'Dons at Summit Championships

TULSA, Okla. - Behind a 56th place finish by senior Steven Zimmerman, the IPFW Mastodons took 10th at the 2011 Summit League Championships, hosted by Oral Roberts.
Zimmerman's 56th place came in a time of 27 minutes, 50.3 seconds, less than eight seconds shy of picking up his third personal-best in as many races, and the third best 8,000-meter time of his career.
IPFW's second finisher, Cody Sengthong, came across the line eight places behind Zimmerman in a time of 29:02.8, while he, Taylor Crowell, and Vince Corona crossed the line back-to-back-to-back, Crowell in a time of 29:04.9 and Corona in 29:09.5.
Erich Campbell rounded out the Mastodon scoring five in a time of 30:14.7, placing 71st overall, with Randy McComb rounding out the IPFW harriers placing 72nd in a time of 30:33.7.
Southern Utah took the team title at the event with 48 points, with North Dakota State placing second with 95 points. South Dakota State (100), UMKC (110), South Dakota (116), Oakland (129), IUPUI (137), Western Illinois (221), and Oral Roberts (244) rounded out the teams in front of IPFW (294).
Southern Utah's Cameron Levins was the individual champion, finishing the five-mile race in a time of 24:34.3, over 12 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
The Mastodons close out its 2011 season on November 12 at the Great Lakes Regional hosted by the University of Toledo.
