Fort Wayne, IN - IPFW used a balanced offense, with four players reaching double figures in the scoring column, and a smoldering defense, holding North Dakota State to just 46 points, the second fewest allowed in a game this season by the Mastodons, to win 79-46 in front of 833 fans on the program's fourth annual Pink Out game.
The win improves IPFW's record to 18-7 on the season, the most wins in a year for IPFW since the team won 19 in the 2000-01 season, the program's last season as a member of NCAA Division II. The dozen conference wins are the most for IPFW since joining the Summit League in the 2007-08 season.
Stephanie Rosado scored a game-high 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field, while grabbing eight rebounds, narrowly missing on the double-double. Jordan Zuppe scored 16 points while dishing out seven assists and pulling down six rebounds.
Anne Boese and Sydney Weinert each scored 14 points, Boese's coming primarily on 4-of-9 shooting from long range, while Weinert pulled down 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the year.
Erin Murphy narrowly missed double-figures with eight points, while Amanda Hyde dished out five assists, second highest total on the squad.
The Mastodons out-rebounded North Dakota State 42-21, and dished out 20 assists, against just nine assists, the largest positive assist-to-turnover mark of the season for the 'Dons.
IPFW found itself trailing early, with NDSU scoring the first four points of the game, leading by as many as five at 7-2 with 17:12 remaining in the first half. The Mastodons chipped away at the deficit, taking the team's first lead on a Weinert lay-in with 13:15, putting the score at 10-9.
Four straight Bison points gave the visitors a three-point lead, and the guests led by one at 18-17 with 8:19 to play in the opening half. The Mastodons proceeded to score six straight points to lead 23-18, an advantage that that the hosts would not relinquish the rest of the way.
With IPFW leading by five with 2:15 remaining in the opening half, the Mastodons closed the first period with a 7-0 run to take a 12-point, 36-24 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Bison opened the scoring in the second half, cutting the lead to 10, but that would be as close as NDSU would come, as the Mastodons would run out with a 23-8 run over the next seven minutes, pushing IPFW to a 25-point lead, with the 'Dons cruising the rest of the way in the 33-point IPFW win.
IPFW made 51.7 percent (30-of-58) of its shots in the game, the fifth time in the last six games that the 'Dons have hit over half of its shots for the game. The Mastodons were 8-of-20 from long range, and 11-of-17 from the charity stripe.
NDSU made 18-of-51 shots (35.3 percent) in the game, while converting on 4-of-15 from long range.
Danielle DeGagne scored a team-high 13 points off of the bench for North Dakota State, as Katie Birkel and Janae Burich each scored a dozen. Degagne pulled down six rebounds to pace the team, as Whitney Trecker dished out five assists.
