BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Freshman Eddie Tackett fired back-to-back rounds of 73 and is tied for first place overall after 36 holes at the Bowling Green John Piper Intercollegiate in Bowling Green, Ohio. As a squad, the Mastodons sit tied for sixth place in the team competition.
In rainy and soggy conditions, IPFW posted a first day mark of 616 (316-300). The fine-man unit remains within striking distance of tournament-host and leader Bowling Green, who posted a 598 (305-293).
Mastodon junior Drew Imel rebounded with a 76 in round two after recording a 78 to open the day. He sits tied for 22nd place in the 55-man field.
Tied for 28nd overall is Patrick Kundenreich, who fired an 82 in round one to go with a 75 in the afternoon session. Bruno Carvalho is tied for 40th place after posting rounds of 83-77 (160). Tomaz Pinheiro rounded-out the IPFW scoring with a 36-hole total 163 (87-76). He is tied for 45th place.
Competing as an individual, Mitch Bellam carded rounds of 76-82 to sit tied for 33rd place.
Heading into the final round, Tackett is joined atop the leaderboard with Wes Gates (Bowling Green), Mark Olbrych (University of Indianapolis) and Simon Reyers (Detroit).
