FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Former IPFW men's soccer standout Max Touloute has signed a three-year deal with the Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League, it was announced Tuesday.
Touloute becomes the fourth IPFW men's soccer player to sign a professional contract, joining head coach Mike Harper (two years, ESL), assistant coach Bronn Pfeiffer (nine years, NPSL/MISL) and Jeff Richey (seven years, NPSL/MISL).
Touloute will team up with Fort Wayne native Jamar Beasley on the 17-man Wing roster.
"Max is a tremendous athlete who will do well in the professional leagues," said IPFW men's head coach Mike Harper. "He is very driven to play and will make the most of this opportunity."
A four-year player for the Mastodons, Touloute solidified his name in the IPFW history book with 32 goals, 14 assists, 218 shots and five game-winning goals. He competed in 67 career games for the Royal Blue and White.
In 2011, Touloute was named the Summit League Offensive Player of the Year, while helping IPFW qualify for the league tournament for the first time in program history. In the semifinal round against Oral Roberts, he netted IPFW's first goal nine seconds into the contest. It was second fastest goal in NCAA history and the quickest in league tournament history.
"We hope to have many more IPFW players continue playing after their Mastodon career, " Harper said." Hopefully, Max can help spread the word about IPFW soccer to many more professional scouts."
Touloute will start practicing with Wichita at the end of January.
