Men's Volleyball Opens 2012 Season with Five-Set Win Over Puerto Rico

San Juan, P.R. - The IPFW men's volleyball team opened the 2012 season on a high-note Wednesday afternoon, outlasting the University of Puerto Rico in five sets 25-15, 25-16, 24-26, 22-25, 15-11 in San Juan, P.R.
IPFW (1-0) picked up 14-kill performances from senior Ivan Matos and junior Elon Fyfield, as the team combined for 49 kills on 111 attempts. Splitting time at the setter's position, senior Adam Quinn dished out 21 assists, while freshman Jonathon Rivera delivered 19.
Senior Corey Frain led the 'Dons with seven blocks. Redshirt-sophomore JW Kieckhefer had a team-high eight digs.
Before returning to Fort Wayne, IPFW will play one more contest against Puerto Rico in San Juan on Sat. Jan. 7.
