Women's Golf Travels to Tennessee for Tournament

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's golf team, off to a strong start to the 2012 season, heads south to Clarksville, Tenn. to compete in the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate hosted by Austin Peay.

There are 10 teams, including Austin Peay, Belmont, Jacksonville State, Lipscomb, Morehead State, Murray State, Tennessee Tech, Southern Illinois, and SIU Edwardsville
ABOUT THE COURSE
The Clarksville Country Club was opened in 1965, and was designed by architect George Cobb. The front nine is a par 37 at 3,157 yards, while the back nine is a par 35 with 2,803 yards.
LAST TOURNAMENT
Behind back-to-back 83's from Allison Curtis, and all five Mastodon golfers under 89, the IPFW women's golf team carded a second-round 340 to tie for sixth at the 2012 SIUE Intercollegiate.
Curtis led the team for the second straight day with an 83. Alyssa Turney's 84 was the second best score for IPFW, while Taylor Lamphier and Ashton Taft carded 86 and 87, each, while Sydney Bailey's 88 was the high-water mark for the Mastodons.
Overall, Curtis' 166 was tied for the ninth-lowest score, as Southern Illinois' Amy Lee shot a 154 for individual medalist honors. Lamphier had a two-round score of 172, tying her for 26th, with Alyssa Turney finishing two strokes behind in a tie for 32nd, and Bailey two strokes more, tying for 38th. Taft rounded out the five Mastodons in the field with a two-round score of 182, putting her into a tie for 50th in the field.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The Mastodons are led this season by Allison Curtis, who has a team-low scoring average of 82.67. Three others, Brenna Sherwood (84.75), Ashton Taft (84.83), and Taylor Lamphier (85.67) are below an 86 scoring average, with Alyssa Turney sitting exactly at 86 for her scoring average on the year. Sydney Bailey (87.33) and Breanna Hatter (88.50) round out the Mastodons who have seen action this season.
