CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Behind a first-round 331, including a season-low 77 from Allison Curtis, the IPFW Mastodons sit in 10th place at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate.
Curtis' 77 tops her previous season-best by four strokes, as she sits in a tie for 11th place in the standings.
IPFW's first-round total of 331 is the team's third-lowest score this year, and puts the squad in 10th place in the field. Jacksonville State leads the field with a 301, as Morehead State and host Austin Peay stand in second and third with 309 and 316 strokes, each. Southern Illinois (317), Murray State (317), SIU Edwardsville (319), Belmont (324), Lipscomb (329), and Tennessee Tech (329) sit just ahead of the 'Dons.
Ashton Taft has the second-lowest round for IPFW with an 83, placing a tie for 38th, while Sydney Bailey carded an 84, putting her in 42nd.
Brenna Sherwood and Alyssa Turney shot matching 87's, to tie for the fourth spot on the team, and 54th in the field.
The squad returns to action tomorrow for the second of two days of the invitational.
