KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Tylar Allison became the IPFW career assist record holder, as the Mastodons and Kansas City Kangaroos closed out 110 minutes of action tied 1-1 in a Summit League match on Sunday afternoon.
Allison, who tied the record on Friday against South Dakota, took sole possession of the record in the 54th minute of the game tonight when she assisted on Erin Gill's goal.
The tie moves IPFW to 7-6-1 on the season, and 3-1-1 in Summit League play, standing in sole possession of second place in the league standings, setting up a first-place battle on Saturday night against current league leader Oakland at the Hefner Soccer Complex.
Kansas City jumped ahead in the seventh minute of the game when Sophie Rackham put up a shot that was saved by IPFW keeper Sam Pavlika and right to the feet of Ashley Gann who scored her second goal of the season, and gave the 'Roos a 1-0 lead 6:20 into the contest.
The last 38-plus minutes of the first half went without a score, as the hosts took a 1-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.
IPFW countered within the first 10 minutes of the second half when Allison sent in a free kick that Erin Gill headed into the goal, knotting up the score with 35:50 to play in regulation. That would be the the eventual final score of the contest, as the Mastodons and Kangaroos continue to have an even standing in the all-time series between the two teams, with the mark now standing at 1-1-2 with the tie.
Gill had three of the team's eight shots, as Allison, Brooke Bishir, Arianne Mason, Sydney Hoareau, and Kelli Schey each had a shot in the contest. Pavlika had five saves in the game, giving up just the solitary goal early in the game.
The Mastodons return to action at 5:30 on Saturday, October 20, in the first match of a women's / men's doubleheader against the Oakland Grizzlies.
