HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Despite seven saves from sophomore Brandon Cloutier, the IPFW Mastodons fell 2-0 to the Northern Kentucky Norse on Tuesday evening.

Cloutier, who was ranked eighth in the country in goalie saves, has seven or more saves in the game for the fourth time in his last seven matches this season, as the Mastodons fell to 0-12-1.

Northern Kentucky (3-7-1) got onto the scoreboard first 13:17 into the game when Brendan Murphy beat IPFW goalkeeper Cloutier towards the left post, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead. That early goal would be all that would come in the half, as Northern Kentucky took a 1-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Less than four minutes into the second half, Michael Bartlett put one into the back of the net at the left side of the goal to give the hosts a 2-0 advantage. With just under 20 minutes remaining in the game Zach Rodgers missed just high on a one-on-one attempt with Northern Kentucky goalkeeper A.J. Fleak, keeping the NKU shutout alive.

The Bartlett goal would be the final score of the contest for IPFW, which was out-shot 17-7 in the contest, as the teams had an even number of corner kicks (four).

Rodgers had a team-high two shots, one on goal, while five others: Kyle Ackerman, Austin West, Nate Shipman, Scott Williams, and Darnell Parris had a shot apiece.

The Mastodons return to action on Saturday, October 13, in the first of three straight home matches for IPFW, when the squad hosts Omaha in a 7 p.m. kickoff at the Hefner Soccer Field. The week after IPFW will host Bowling Green and Oakland for the program's longest stretch of home matches this season.
