
Cross County to Close Season at NCAA Regionals

MADISON, Wis. - The IPFW Mastodon cross country team closes its 2012 season on Saturday at the NCAA Regional Meet, hosted by the University of Wisconsin.

TEAMS
There are 30 teams for the men in the race, including Akron, Bowling Green, Butler, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Dayton, Detroit, Eastern Michigan, Evansville, Indiana, Indiana State, IUPUI, Kent State, Marquette, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oakland, Ohio State, Ohio, Purdue, Toledo, Valparaiso, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Wright State, and Xavier for a total of 305 runners.
On the women's side there are 32 teams, including Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Butler, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Dayton, Detroit, Eastern Michigan, Evansville, Indiana, Indiana State, IUPUI, Kent State, Marquette, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oakland, Ohio State, Ohio, Purdue, Toledo, Valparaiso, Western Michigan, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Xavier for a total of 314 racers in the field.
IPFW MEN
The IPFW men's cross country team placed eighth at the 2012 Summit League Championships hosted by Oakland University.
Leading the way for the Blue and White was a trio of freshmen, led by Jordan Holloman's 39th place finish in a time of 27:23.6. Classmates Evan Boucher and Chris Rudolph placed 51st and 53rd in times of 28:28.8 and 28:49.9, respectively.
Randy McComb (29:21.8) and Cody Sengthong (29:26.5) placed 56th and 57th, each, to round out the scoring five for the Mastodons. Brandon Perry (58th/29:36.0), Garret Gleckler (59th/29:56.6), and Kyle Schmidt (60th/30:54.6) completed the IPFW roster in the field.
IPFW WOMEN
Behind the performances of freshmen Katie Simmons and Andrea Bell, the IPFW Mastodons placed sixth at the 2012 Summit League Championships hosted by Oakland University.
Katie Simmons, running in her first collegiate conference meet, placed 28th in a time of 23:41, while Andrea Bell finished two places later in a time of 23:44.8.
Three juniors rounded out the scoring five for IPFW, led by Kayla Boyes' 33rd place finish in a time of 23:47.1. Amaya Ayers (34th/23:47.1) and Julia Jeszenszky (39th/23:56.6) closed out the scoring five.
There were just 11 places and 15 seconds separating IPFW's top five finishers in the meet.
Anna Reibs (42nd/24:01.5) and Rebecca Jacobs (65th/25:24.7) closed out the team's top seven, as Jordan Tomecek and Alexa Brown also competed for IPFW, placing 67th and 71st in times of 25:55.9 and 26:28.2, each.
