FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- No. 14 Purdue will play at IPFW for the first time ever as the two teams are scheduled to come together on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.
SCOUTING THE BOILERMAKERS
The nationally-ranked Purdue Boilermakers will visit the Gates Sports Center for the first time on Thursday, Dec. 6. The Boilers are ranked 14th in the USA Today / ESPN Poll and 15th in the Associated Press Poll. Purdue enters the game with an overall record of 7-1 with their only setback of the season coming against No. 2 UConn.
KK Houser and Courtney Moses attack from the perimeter while the duo of Drey Mingo and Sam Ostarello control the paint for Purdue. Houser leads the team with a 13.9 scoring average, but she proves to be an all-around guard as she also leads the club in assists. Moses is second on the team with a scoring average of 13.1. She is shooting 43 percent from 3-point land (14-32) and Houser also can hurt you from distance as she hits 47 percent of her shots from behind the arc (18-38).
Ostarello leads the Boilermakers in rebounds with an average of 9.8 per game. She is shooting 45 percent from the floor and 85 percent from the free throw line. Mingo is a redshirt senior that comes into Thursday averaging 10 points and six rebounds.
Purdue has done a nice job defending the 3-point line this season as the team is currently holding opponents to 28 percent from long range. The Mastodons will try to change that stat as they hit 61 percent from 3-point land against Valparaiso, including 75 percent in the first half (6-of-8).
LAST TIME OUT
The IPFW women's basketball team fell to the Valparaiso Crusaders on Tuesday night by the final score of 82-73. Amanda Hyde led the way for IPFW, scoring a game-high 25 points.
Hyde knocked down 10 of her 16 shots, including 3-for-4 from long range to score her 25 points. The junior also chipped in with five assists and three rebounds. Stefanie Mauk and Erin Murphy also impacted the IPFW offense as each student-athlete scored 10 points against Valparaiso. Mauk hit three 3-point field goals and really stepped it up defensively with six rebounds and a career-high three blocks.
Rachel Mauk, Haley Seibert and Mur Hagerman each scored seven points against the Crusaders on Tuesday night. Seibert was 5-for-5 from the charity stripe with four assists and Mauk added two assists and two rebounds.
Each team shot the ball very well overall, but the Mastodons were lights out from 3-point range in the first half hitting 75 percent from distance. The hot shooting by IPFW got the team back in the game after trailing early.
The IPFW bench outscored Valparaiso 22-16, but a huge difference in this contest was Valparaiso converting points off IPFW turnovers. The Crusaders scored 29 points off IPFW miscues and also poured in 36 points in the paint to build a lead.
3-POINT STREAK
The IPFW Mastodons have made a 3-point field goal in 412 straight contests, a stretch that ranks as the fourth longest active streak in NCAA Division I. Iowa State's streak is at the top of the list by making a 3-point field goal in 553 consecutive games. Sam Houston State and Connecticut rank ahead of IPFW with 504 and 480 respectively.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Purdue leads the all-time series over IPFW 3-0. The Mastodons most recently faced the Boilermakers one year ago as Purdue earned a 73-36 win at home. The first meeting between the two programs was back during the 2004-05 season. Purdue won that contest 107-39 and then came back to defeat IPFW 76-52 the next year. Thursday night's game marks the first time Purdue has visited the Gates Sports Center.
VS THE BIG TEN
IPFW has never defeated a Big Ten opponent. They have faced a Big Ten school 14 different times, but are still seeking their first upset. The Mastodons are 0-3 vs Illinois and Purdue, 0-2 vs. Indiana, Michigan State, and Wisconsin, and 0-1 vs Minnesota and Northwestern.
HYDE SCORES 43 AT SOUTHERN ILLINOIS
Amanda Hyde scored a career-high 43 points last week as the Mastodons defeated Southern Illinois 78-65. The 43 points placed her in a tie for second all-time in Summit League history, and also tied the IPFW school record for most points in a game.
43 points are the highest single-game total in NCAA Division I this season as Hyde becomes the third student-athlete to score more than 40. Amy Patton of Northern Arizona scored 41 points against Bradley on Nov. 24 and Kevi Luper of Oral Roberts dropped 40 points against Missouri State on Nov. 29.
Hyde has reached double figure scoring in all seven games this season. Her 43-point game against Southern Illinois helped her increase her scoring average to 20.3 ppg which ranks her 34th in the NCAA.
SINGLE GAME INDIVIDUAL POINTS RECORD
Amanda Hyde tied Lindy Jones for a share of the IPFW single-game scoring record. Jones scored 43 points against St. Joseph's during the 1995-96 season. Other Mastodons to reach 40 points in a game include Jamie Holderman and Lisa Miller. Holderman scored 40 against Quincy on Feb. 17, 2001 and Miller recorded her 40 point game against IUPUI on Jan. 23, 1992.

Junior Stefanie Mauk set a new career-high rebound total with 14 against Southern Illinois on Nov. 29. Mauk is now averaging 7.9 rebounds per contest which leads the team.
