IPFW Finishes Strong at C&F Bank Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Sitting in 18th place heading into Tuesday's final round, the IPFW men's golf team stormed up the team leaderboard with a four-man total of 295 to finish in 12th place at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate.
IPFW fired a three-day mark of 897, and jumped six spots on Tuesday in the 29-team field, finishing just two strokes back of tournament-host William & Mary for 11th place. Missouri went wire-to-wire to capture the team title with a 54-hole total of 870.
Leading the Mastodons was Jacob Groninger, who fired a 69 on the final 18 holes to finish tied for 15th place overall with a 219. Groninger's final round included four birdies, all of which came on the front nine.
Bruno Carvalho placed tied for 20th after totaling a three-day mark of 221 (73-76-72). Drew Imel came in tied for 76th place with a 230 after firing rounds of 76-77-77.
Patrick Kundenreich managed a 231 (71-79-81) to finish tied for 88th place, while Eddie Tackett placed tied for 124th with a 239 (83-79-77).
Kamito Hirai of Winthrop won individual medalist honors with a 54-hole total of 211 (72-70-69).
Head coach Billy King and the Mastodons will return to action on April 7-8, when they compete in the NYX Invitational hosted by Indiana University.
