Imel, IPFW Sit in Eighth Place at NYX Hoosier Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The IPFW men's golf team put together back-to-back team rounds of 285 and 295 to sit tied for eighth place overall after day one of the NYX Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
In the 16-team field, the Mastodons are tied with Wright State and Western Illinois with a 36-hole mark of 580. Northwestern leads the field with a 558, followed by IUPUI (565) and Indiana (570).
Drew Imel led IPFW on Saturday with impressive rounds of 70 and 71. The junior is tied for 10th place overall with a 141 heading into Sunday's final round.
Jacob Groninger is six strokes back of Imel with a 146 after posting scores of 71-75. He stands tied for 32nd place with 18 holes remaining.
Bruno Carvalho is tied for 44th place with a 147 (73-74), while Patrick Kundenreich is tied for 56th with a 149 (71-78). Eddie Tackett recovered on the second 18 holes with a 75 to go with an 82 to sit tied for 80th place with a 157.
Northwestern's Jack Perry holds a one-stroke lead over the 84-man field with a 137 (69-68).
The Mastodons will wrap-up the event tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. EST.
