IPFW Finishes in Ninth Place at NYX Hoosier Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The IPFW men's golf team capped off a fine weekend on Easter Sunday at the highly-competitive NYX Hoosier Invitational, firing a final round 298 to finish with a 54-hole total of 878 and ninth place overall.
IPFW ended four strokes back of Ohio University for eighth place. Northwestern won the team competition with a two-day mark of 841, topping IUPUI (852) by 11 strokes. Tournament-host Indiana finished in third place with a 853.
Leading the Mastodons in Bloomington was Jacob Groninger, who finished tied for 18th place overall with a 217 (71-75-71), including a final round 71. Drew Imel mustered a 219 (70-71-78) to place tied for 30th in the 84-man field.
Coming in tied for 43rd place was Bruno Carvalho, who carded down the line rounds of 73-74-75 to end with a 222. Patrick Kundenreich finished tied for 59th place with a 225 (71-78-76), and Eddie Tackett rounded-out the Mastodon scoring with a 233 (82-75-76) and a 77th place standing.
Eric Chun of Northwestern took home medalist honors with a 54-hole total of 204 (69-69-66).
Next up for IPFW is the Tennessee State Intercollegiate in Nashville, Tenn. on April 16-17.
