Imel, IPFW in Third Place After Day One of Tennessee State Intercollegiate

OLD HICKORY, Tenn. - Drew Imel led IPFW with a 36-hole total of 140 (67-73) on Monday to help the Mastodons stay in contention after day one of the Tennessee State Intercollegiate in Old Hickory, Tenn.
As a unit, IPFW is in third place with a four-man mark of 577 (286-291), sitting eight strokes back of Tennessee Tech for second place. Murray State fired a 563 to hold the overall team lead heading into Tuesday's final round.
Imel's first round 67 was his lowest ever score as a Mastodon and tied the lowest round of the day, as the junior currently sits alone in third place in the individual competition. He is two strokes back of the overall lead.
Bruno Carvalho is tied for eight place after posting scores of 70-73, good enough for a 143. Jacob Groninger is two strokes back with a 145 (74-71). He is tied for 18th place in the 64-man field.
Eddie Tackett fired rounds of 75-74 to stand tied for 42nd with a 149, while Patrick Kundenreich shot a two-round score of 154 (78-76). He is in 58th place.
Playing as individuals for the Mastodons were Jacob Bailey and John McMillen. Bailey mustered scores of 74-71 (145) and sits tied for 18th place, while McMillen is tied for 62nd with a 159 (77-82).
Chris Schwartz of UT Martin leads the field with a 36-hole total of 138 (71-67).
The Mastodons will complete the two-day event Tuesday morning with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
