
IPFW Swings to Fourth Place Finish at Tennessee State Intercollegiate

OLD HICKORY, Tenn. - With one tournament remaining before the Summit League Tournament, the IPFW men's golf team finished tied for fourth place at the Tennessee State Intercollegiate on Tuesday in Old Hickory, Tenn. The Mastodons posted its best 54-hole total of the spring with a 865.
The 'Dons fired a final round 288 to go with scores of 286 and 291 to share fourth place with UT Martin. First day leader Murray State held onto to win the team title with a 843 (281-282-280).
Heading into Tuesday's round two strokes back of the overall lead, Drew Imel fired a 72 in the final round to place fifth overall with a 212 (67-73-72).
Bruno Carvalho finished one-stroke back of Imel for seventh place, shooting a two-day total of 213 (70-73-70). Jacob Groninger carded rounds of 74-71-74 (219) to place tied for 26th overall.
Eddie Tackett fired a 72 on Tuesday to go with scores of 75-74 from Monday to finish tied for 36th place, while Patrick Kundenreich posted a 232 (78-76-78) to end in 57th place.
Jacob Bailey and John McMillen competed individually for IPFW in Nashville. Bailey totaled a 220 (74-71-75) and finished tied for 32nd place, while McMillen earned 58th place with a 233 (77-82-74).
Patrick Newcomb of Murray State won medalist honors with a 54-hole mark of 209 (73-69-67).
Head coach Billy King and the Mastodons will now prep for the 2012 Summit League Tournament held in Primm, Nev. First round action begins April 23.
