Mastodons Finish in Sixth Place at Caribbean Intercollegiate

PONCE, Puerto Rico - With a 54-hole total of 895 (304-288-303), the IPFW men's golf team finished in sixth place at the Caribbean Intercollegiate hosted by St. John's University in Ponce, Puerto Rico. IPFW concluded the tournament with a final round 303 on Wednesday.
The Mastodons concluded the spring break event 17 strokes back of Laval and Old Dominion for fourth place. Rollins College took home the team title with a three-day mark of 859.
Freshman Eddie Tackett finished tied for 14th place overall after carding a 54-hole total of 220 (79-68-73). Classmate Patrick Kundenreich fired a three-day mark of 225 (75-75-75) to come in tied for 25th place in the 35-man field.
Jacob Groninger recorded rounds of 78-71-78 (227) to place 27th overall. Drew Imel was two-strokes back with a 229 (78-74-77) to finish in 29th place, while Bruno Carvalho managed a 231 (73-78-80) and a 30th placement.
John McMillen (236, 32nd place), Jacob Bailey (237, 33rd place) and Curtis Coverstone (256, 35th place) competed individually for IPFW in Puerto Rico.
St. John's Pat Wilson won individual medalist honors with a six-under 210 (69-68-73).
The Mastodons will now prepare for the C & F Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary on March 26-27. The two-day tournament will take place in Williamsburg, Va.
