Eleven Mastodons Selected to 2012 MIVA Academic All-Conference Team

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - A total of eleven members of the IPFW men's volleyball team have been selected to the 2012 MIVA Academic All-Conference Team, the league office announced Friday.
To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA at their respective institutions. Jordan Armstrong and Kevin Villela headline the list, as they were two of four MIVA student-athletes to post a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Joining Armstrong and Villela from the Mastodon roster were Grant Cornay, Elon Fyfield, Tyler Golsteyn, JW Kieckhefer, Ivan Matos, Jonathan Meyer, Patrick Pinto, Adam Quinn and Andrew Sellan.
Lewis placed 15 student-athletes on the annual list to lead all teams, followed by Ohio State (14) and Loyola (14). With IPFW, Grand Canyon and Quincy each had 11 honorees. Ball State concluded the list with seven, bringing the total to 83 players.
IPFW finished the 2012 season 13-15 overall (5-7 MIVA), ending tied for fourth place in the MIVA standings.
