FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW men's volleyball program has signed Scott McNerney to an Offer-of-Admission, head coach Arnie Ball announced Tuesday. The addition of McNerney brings the 2012 Class to three future Mastodons.
At 6-3, McNerney, the younger brother of former Mastodon Dan McNerney (2005-08), will come to Fort Wayne from Wilmington, Del., where he starred as an outside hitter for Salesianum School. A three-year starter and strong all-around player, McNerney broke the school's all-time kills record as a junior and currently sits in second place in career digs. He earned All-Delaware First Team honors as a sophomore and junior, while owning the role as team captain.
Off the court, McNerney is a fine student in the classroom, as he is a member of the National Honors Society and Spanish National Honors Society with a 3.9 GPA (out fo 4.0). He intends to study engineering at IPFW.
McNerney joins Luis Bertran-Garcia and Nick Smalter in Class of 2012.
