Women's Soccer Prepares for Home Opener on Friday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's soccer team prepares for its 2012 home opener on Friday afternoon in a 7 p.m. kickoff at the Hefner Soccer Field.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The Mastodons come into this weekend having lost in the season opener by a 1-0 score at Butler.
IPFW attempted eight shots in the loss, one of which was on goal, while Sam Pavlika faced 10 total shots, picking up four saves in her first collegiate action.
The Butler game saw seven freshman start for the Mastodons, including goalkeeper Pavlika, Erin Gill, Brooke Bishir, Meg Brennan, Tessa Edwards, Rachel Good, Victoria Pepper, and Kelsie Carlson.
SCOUTING THE ROCKETS
Toledo comes into the Friday night match-up having lost its first two contests of the season, falling 2-0 at Purdue, and 2-1 at home against Belmont. The Rockets next fly to Texas to take on the Longhorns of the University of Texas on Sunday.
For the season, junior Rachel MacLeod scored the team's lone goal, coming against Belmont, as sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Borowitz has a 2.00 goals against average, having faced 12 shots, picking up just one save and four goals allowed.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The Mastodons and Rockets have faced off on the soccer pitch five times prior, with Toledo holding a 4-1 lead in the all-time series.
The first meeting came in September 2002 to the tune of a 5-0 Rocket win. The Mastodons got revenge a year later with a 1-0 double-overtime victory in Fort Wayne. Since then, the Rockets have rattled off wins of 1-0 (in 2005), 5-0 (2007), and 4-3 (last season).
