Umotong's Hat Trick Sinks Mastodons in Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio - Behind a hat track from Wright State's Ini Umotong, the Raiders took down the IPFW Mastodons by a 5-0 score on Monday evening.

Umotong scored the game's first goal, and the last two of the contest, while Adrianna Guerrero and Jessica Stauffer added the second and third goals of the game.

The loss drops IPFW to 4-5 overall while Wright State improves to 6-2-3.

Wright State opened the game strong, peppering IPFW goalkeeper Sam Pavlika with three shots in the first nine minutes of the game, Pavlika picking up two saves. The Mastodons got their first shot of the game from Rhea Proctor, which set up a counter by the Raiders, of which Umotong took a pass from Guerrero and beat Pavlika to give the Wright State a 1-0 lead.

Fifteen minutes later the Raiders scored again when Amy Anderson found Guerrero for the second goal of the game, which sent the teams into the locker room at halftime with a 2-0 advantage.

Just over five minutes into the second half Wright State added to their lead when Stauffer found the back of the net, before Umotong scored in the 73rd and 80th minute of the game to give the contest its 5-0 final score.

Wright State out-shot IPFW 18-6 but the Mastodons had three corner kicks to Wright State's one.

The loss caps the non-conference portion of the IPFW season, and the Mastododons open their Summit League season on Friday, September 28 against the Omaha Mavericks at 5 p.m.
