Women's Soccer Opens Conference Play on Friday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - After a nine-match non-conference season, the IPFW Mastodons take their 4-5 record into Omaha, Nebraska, to face off against the Mavericks of Omaha in a 5 p.m. kickoff.

This is the first time that Omaha and IPFW have met on the soccer pitch.
SUMMIT LEAGUE OPENER
IPFW is 1-4 all-time in Summit League season openers. The squad fell 3-0 in the 2007 league opener, and fell in double-overtime in 2008 to North Dakota State. The squad opened league play in 2009 with a 2-1 win at home against Southern Utah before falling 1-0 in overtime in 2010 to South Dakota State and 1-0 at Oakland in 2011.
SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS
Omaha comes into the game looking for their first win of the season, sitting with a 0-10 record and have scored six goals while giving up 28.
Danielle Archuleta has a team-best three goals, while Jordy Braun, Melanie McCormick, and Moica Bosiljevac each have one. Anna Sibson has dished out two assists, while Braun and Katlyn Nimtz each have one helper.
Meaghan Clark has played all 900 minutes for the team in goal, giving up 28 goals for a goals against average of 2.80 with 60 saves for a save percentage of .682.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The Mastodons come into the game with a 4-5 overall record, the program's best nine-game start in program history - the previous best was 3-4-2 in 2003.
Leading the team offensively has been senior Danielle Bishop who has two goals and an assist in her nine matches, while Erin Gill and Sydney Hoareau each have two goals scored. Tylar Allison leads the team with two assists, while Bishop, Rachel Good, Tessa Edwards, and Rhea Proctor each have an assist.
Defensively Sam Pavlika has been in goal for all 829-plus minutes for the squad. The two-time Summit League Defensive Player of the Week has 42 saves, a .792 save percentage, and a 1.19 goals against average with a pair of shutouts.
