Women's Golf Cards a 340 to tie for Sixth at SIUE Intercollegiate

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Behind back-to-back 83's from Allison Curtis, and all five Mastodon golfers under 89, the IPFW women's golf team carded a second-round 340 to tie for sixth at the 2012 SIUE Intercollegiate.
IPFW's 340 was the fifth-best round in the field on the final day, with the squad's two-round total sitting at 687. Southern Illinois ran away from the field with a two-round 641, while Lipscomb finished second with a 662. Omaha (673), SIU Edwardsville (682), and Evansville (686) all finished ahead of IPFW, as the 'Dons tied with Creighton and Eastern Illinois tied with IPFW with a 687, as South Dakota took ninth with a 697.
Curtis led the team for the second straight day with an 83. Alyssa Turney's 84 was the second best score for IPFW, while Taylor Lamphier and Ashton Taft carded 86 and 87, each, while Sydney Bailey's 88 was the high-water mark for the Mastodons.
Overall, Curtis' 166 was tied for the ninth-lowest score, as Southern Illinois' Amy Lee shot a 154 for individual medalist honors. Lamphier had a two-round score of 172, tying her for 26th, with Alyssa Turney finishing two strokes behind in a tie for 32nd, and Bailey two strokes more, tying for 38th. Taft rounded out the five Mastodons in the field with a two-round score of 182, putting her into a tie for 50th in the field.
The Mastodons take a two-week hiatus before returning to the course on October 15 and 16 at the Austin Peay State University Intercollegiate in Clarksville, Tenn.
