Bethany Watterworth, the Summit League Preseason Player of the Year, will be out for the remainder of the season due to a back injury. The combination of Watterworth being sidelined and Zakiya Minifee only scoring 4.1 points per game has Oakland off to a slow start. Minifee was a Second Team All-League selection at the beginning of the year and the Golden Grizzlies were selected to finish third in the standings.
Watterworth plans to seek a medical redshirt for 2012-13, which would allow her to return to the team next season. She is the only senior on the team.
