Mastodons Travel to Omaha for Summit League Tilt

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The IPFW women's basketball team will travel to Omaha to face the Mavericks on Saturday, Jan. 5. This is the first ever meeting between the two programs as Omaha serves as the newest member of the Summit League.
ABOUT FORT WAYNE
The Mastodons are 1-1 in the Summit League after the opening weekend of action. Amanda Hyde is averaging 27.5 points per game in Summit League play after scoring 30 in a losing effort vs IUPUI and 25 in a win over Western Illinois. Junior guard Erin Murphy has also impacted the team early in the Summit League season by averaging 19 points per game.
The duo of Hyde and Murphy are each shooting over 60 percent from the floor helping the team post a percentage of 48 percent in league play. 3-point shooting has also been important to IPFW early in the Summit League season as the team averages 8.5 triples per contest. They are 17-for-45 as a team through the first two games.
SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS
Omaha is 10-3 overall and 2-1 in Summit League play after defeating Oakland on Thursday night by the final score of 59-41. The Mavericks used a trio of players to defeat the Golden Grizzlies as Carolyn Blair-Mobley, Paige Frauendorfer, and Jamie Nash all reached a double figure scoring total.
Blair-Mobley led the team with 19 points off 8-of-12 shooting. She was 2-for-5 from distance and 1-1 from the charity stripe. Blair Mobley also crashed the boards with eight rebounds. Frauendorfer recorded a double-double for Omaha with 16 points and 11 rebounds. She leads the team in each category. Nash nearly pulled off a triple-double against Oakland as she ended the night with 15 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds.
LAST TIME OUT
IPFW defeated Western Illinois by the final score of 80-49. Amanda Hyde Erin Murphy and Stefanie Mauk combined to score 63 of IPFW's 80 points.
Hyde scored a game-high 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting while also adding a team-high eight rebounds and six assists. Murphy scored a season-high 21 points and Mauk added 17 helping IPFW defeat Western Illinois.
Mauk went 5-for-6 from the three point line and also grabbed six rebounds for IPFW. Murphy shot a great percentage ending the game 7-for-11.
IPFW held a 35-20 advantage at the half. The Mastodons shot 40 percent from the field, including 43 percent from three-point range. Erin Murphy jumped into the starting lineup for the first time this season and responded by scoring 14 first half points.
IPFW used an 8-0 scoring run to turn a 15-12 lead into a 23-12 advantage. Seibert and Murphy each hit 3-point field goals to spark the run. The Mastodons hit seven 3-point field goals in the opening 20 minutes, Murphy was 2-for-2 and Mauk was 3-of-4.
Hyde got off to a hot start in the second half by scoring seven points in the first three minutes of action. IPFW was able to increase their lead to 28 after a 10-0 run, but the Leathernecks responded by cutting the gap to just 20 points with 9:18 remaining. The Mastodons turned up the defensive pressure and regained momentum which allowed the team to earn their first Summit League win of the year.

THREE-POINT STREAK
The IPFW Mastodons have made a 3-point field goal in 419 straight contests, a stretch that ranks as the fourth longest active streak in NCAA Division I. Iowa State's streak is at the top of the list by making a 3-point field goal in 559 consecutive games. Sam Houston State and Connecticut rank ahead of IPFW with 511 and 485 respectively.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Omaha jumped to the Division I ranks one year ago. The Mavericks and Mastodons have never faced each other in women's basketball competition.
MEGA MINUTES
Paige Frauendorfer and Jamie Nash lead the Summit League in minutes played. Frauendorfer is the leader at 38.6, but Nash is right there with her at 38.0. Amanda Hyde is in a tie with Carolyn Blair-Mobley of Omaha for fifth at 34.7 minutes per game.
SHARPSHOOTERS
Carolyn Blair-Mobley leads the Summit League in 3-point field goal percentage (47.9). Haley Seibert is fourth on the list at 45.7.
SUMMIT LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The Summit League announced that Amanda Hyde has been named Player of the Week for her performances Dec. 24-30.

HYDE SCORES 43 AT SOUTHERN ILLINOIS
Amanda Hyde scored a career-high 43 points in a 78-65 win over Southern Illinois. The 43 points placed her in a tie for second all-time in Summit League history, and also tied the IPFW school record for most points in a game.
43 points puts Hyde in a tie for the highest single-game total in NCAA Division I this season. Shareta Brown of Detroit scored 43 against Lourdes on Dec. 10. Other student-athlete to score more than 40 include Amy Patton of Northern Arizona who scored 41 points against Bradley on Nov. 24, Kevi Luper of Oral Roberts who dropped 40 points against Missouri State on Nov. 29, Diamond Ford of Texas State who scored 40 points vs. San Jose St. on Dec. 29, and Alexis Govan of Western Kentucky who scored 40 points vs. North Texas on Dec. 29.

SINGLE-GAME INDIVIDUAL POINTS RECORD
Amanda Hyde tied Lindy Jones for a share of the IPFW single-game scoring record. Jones scored 43 points against St. Joseph's during the 1995-96 season. Other Mastodons to reach 40 points in a game include Jamie Holderman and Lisa Miller. Holderman scored 40 against Quincy on Feb. 17, 2001 and Miller recorded her 40 point game against IUPUI on Jan. 23, 1992.
MAUK MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Stefanie Mauk has hit 10 3-point field goals in her last three games and has therefore improved her scoring average to 6.1 per game. Mauk leads the team in rebounds (7.3) and in blocked shots (9).
FREEBIES
Amanda Hyde and Erin Murphy are the top free throw shooters in the Summit League as Hyde leads all players with an 87.5 free throw percentage. Murphy is next in line at 85.5.
GRAB THE BOARD
Paige Frauendorfer leads the Summit League in rebounding with an average of 9.2 per contest. Stefanie Mauk currently sits in third averaging 7.3 per game.
POINT GUARD PLAY
Jamie Nash of Omaha leads the Summit League in assists (7.4) and in steals (3.7).
