Women's Basketball Ready to Face Nationally Ranked Spartans

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The IPFW women's basketball will look to build on their three-game winning streak as they travel to Michigan State for the fourth straight season where they face the nationally ranked Spartans on December 1 at 4:30 p.m. The 'Dons are coming off an impressive 91-74 road win at SIUE as Amanda Hyde, Rachel Mauk and Rebecca Bruner all scored in double figures for IPFW.

Scouting the Spartans
Michigan State enters today's game ranked 18th in the USA Today Coaches poll and 21st in the AP poll. MSU is coming off a 74-70 win over Temple where the Spartans went 29-for-36 (80.6%) from the free throw line. The Spartans have now won five straight games after falling in their season opener to Notre Dame. In the four home games, the Spartans are averaging 89.8 points, while shooting 52.2% from the field and 41.8% from 3-point, where they made 8.3 per game. As a team, Michigan State is second in the Big Ten in field goal percentage at 48.8%, while individually, three Spartans are among the top-15 in the conference.
The Spartans have made five straight NCAA Tournament appearances and 10 of the last 11. MSU have three of the last four Michigan's Miss Basketball winners on their roster: Klarissa Bell (2010), Jasmine Hines (2011) and Tori Jankoska (2013).
All-Time Series
Michigan State leads the all-time series 3-0. IPFW held the Spartans to 64 and 62 points in the past two seasons. The 'Dons dropped a tough 62-56 game in 2011. Michigan State was ranked during their first meeting in 2010 when the Spartans won 90-62. Amanda Hyde is the lone IPFW player to face the Spartans in all three games. Hyde is averaging 11 ppg against MSU.
Family Rivalry
The match up between IPFW and MSU will force a split household in the Manwaring family as Jessie Manwaring's mother Emily, played four seasons of basketball and field hockey at MSU from 1966-70. Emily averaged 15 points for a Spartan basketball team that never fell to their rival Michigan.
Hyde at the Line
Amanda Hyde ranks second among active career leaders among Division I players in free throw percentage hitting 85.4 of her attempts. Hyde ranks fourth amongst all thee NCAA Divisions with a minimum of 250 career free throws. Maggie Lucas of Penn St. leads DI with a career 89.2 percent.
