'Dons Travel to Vermillion, S.D. for Summit League Championships

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW Mastodons take to the Summit League field for the 2013 Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D.

IPFW IN THE TOP OF THE FIELD
There are 11 individual IPFW performances that have the squad in the top-20 in their respective events heading into the Championships. The top seed for the Mastodons will be freshman Rachel Dincoff, who is seeded third in the shot put with a school-record toss of 47-7.75 (14.52 meters.
Katy Moore is seeded ninth in the high jump on a school-record height clearance of 5-4.25 (1.63 meters), while Kayla Zink sits 11th in two different events, the shot put (42-6 / 12.95 meters) and weight throw (52-1.25 / 15.88 meters).
LAST TIME OUT
The IPFW track team finished their tune-ups for the Summit League Tournament by setting or tying thrfeeschool records on the day in the 60-meter dash, 800-meter run, and 4x400-meter relay.
Four Mastodons, Kaylin Taylor, Emily Craig, Kayla Boyes, and Julie Jeszenszky teamed up to run a time of 4:10.62, a third of a second faster than the previous record of 4:10.91.
Taylor also topped the school record in the 60-meter dash, tying the record with a time of 8.16 in the preliminaries, before running an 8.08 in the finals to give her the school record in both the 60- and 200-meter dashes during the indoor season. Her time of 26.60 in the 200-meter dash at the event placed her fourth in the field with the school's third-best time in program history.
Jeszenszky led a trio of Mastodons in the 800-meter run, chasing through the four-lap race in a time of 2:20.01, besting the previous school record of 2:20.59 set by Gina Pruitt in 2002. Alexa Brown ran to a time of 2:39.13 and Alexis Minier 2:50.51 in the event.
Katy Moore just missed her own school record in the high jump, clearing a height of 5-3 (1.60 meters), placing her third in the field.
Boyes led a trio of Mastodons in the mile run by placing fifth in a time of 5:11.83, the fifth-fastest mile in school history, whileAndrea Bell placed sixth with a time of 5:13.23, the seventh-fastest time in school history. Kaitlyn Simmons took 13th in a time of 5:25.58. Bell and Simmons later competed in the 3,000-meter run, Bell placing second in a time of 10:26.85, and Simmons 10th in 10:46.97.
Emily Craig ran a time of 1:02.88 in the open 400-meter dash, placing 11th, while Brianna Whitehead took 13th in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 12.18.
Kayla Zink placed fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 49-feet, 5.5-inches (15.07 meters) for the fourth-best toss in school history, while Kaeleigh Porter toosed the fifth-best throw in program history at 49-1.5 (14.97 meters), placing seventh. Theresa McHugh took 12th in the weight throw (42-2.75 / 12.87 meters), while Laura Moynahan placed 13th (38-8.25 / 11.97 meters).
Rachel Dincoff placed fourth in the shot put with a heave of 45-3 (13.79 meters), the fifth-longest toss in program history, while Lizzy Frazze took 10th (38-7.75 / 11.78 meters), Zink placed 11th (37-9.5 / 11.52 meters), and Alyssa Kopp placed 13th (36-8.5 / 11.19 meters).
Rachel Zachar took first in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 19:19.05, while Rebecca Jacobs finished just behind in 19:35.57. In the 600-meter run, Nichole Wormcastle placed 10th in a time of 1:50.91, while Nicole Dailey placed 12th in 1:51.95.
