
Men's Golf Sits 13th in Spring Opener

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The IPFW men's golf team played their first round of the spring season in the Don Benbow Invitational hosted by Butler University.
IPFW carded an opening-round 319, good for 13th place in the field through the first round. Florida Atlantic has jumped out to a six-stroke lead with a 289 first-round score, with Bethune-Cookman (295), Evansville (296), Savannah State (297), and Cleveland State (298) rounding out the top five.
Leading the way for IPFW was Bruno Carvalho who carded a 77, good for a tie of 37th in the field, while Jacob Groninger shot a 79, tied for 48th.
Drake Devereaux carded an 80 for IPFW, tied for 56th, as Drew Imel rounded out the scoring four for the 'Dons with an 83. Dan Wert was the team's fifth golfer on the lineup card, and shot a 92, good for 85th in the field.
Playing as individuals, Oliver Gibson and Logan Barker careded scores of 86 and 95 for 82nd, and 87th place, respectively.
The Mastodons continue at the Benbow Invitational on Tuesday, March 12.
