Men's Golf Sits Fifth at NYX Hoosier Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The IPFW Mastodons sit in fifth place in the strong field at the NYX Hoosier Invitaitonal hosted by Indiana University, as Jacob Groninger finished one shot under par for the two rounds of the day.
IPFW carded scores of 290 and 295 for a two-round total of 585, a stroke ahead of Ohio University (586). Indiana leads the way with a 561, as Illinois State (571), Michigan (575), and Miami (577) sit ahead of IPFW. Indiana's "B" squad (591), Oakland (594), Toledo (595), SIU Edwardsville (596), Youngstown State (596), Dayton (596), Detroit (597), Western Illinois (603), Evansville (603), Butler (609), Wright State (611), and IUPUI (614) all sit behind the 'Dons.
Groninger's rounds of 70 (-1) and 71 (even par) put him in a tie for seventh place in the field with a 141. Bruno Carvalho sits in a tie for 13th place after rounds of 70 and 74, giving him a 144 for the two rounds.
Dan Wert's rounds of 75 and 76 gave him a two-round total of 151 (nine over par), tying for 47th place, as Oliver Gibson's 153 (79, 74) rounded out the scoring four for the Mastodons, placing in a tie for 60th. Drew Imel carded rounds of 75 and 80 for a 13-over par 155, tying for 68th in the field.
The teams return to action on Sunday, April 7, for the third and final round of the competition.
