
Mastodons Sit Seventh at Cougar Golf Classic

DAY ONE RESULTS
CHICAGO - A first-round 317 puts the IPFW Mastodons in seventh place after the first day of the Cougar Golf Classic hosted by Chicago State University.
IPFW's 318 are just seven strokes out of second place in the field. Host Chicago State leads the field with a 306 on the windy Monday morning, while Detroit (311), Northern Illinois (314), Indiana State (315), Cleveland State (315), and Texas-Pan American (316) all sit just ahead of the Mastodons, with Loyola (319), Dayton (323), Creighton (324), UIC (325), Green Bay (334), and Eastern Illinois (334) sit just behind IPFW in the deep field.
Sophomore Brenna Sherwood shot a team-best 78 to open the tournament, tying for 13th place, while Allison Curtis shot a 79, good for a tie of 18th in the field.
Ashton Taft and Sydney Bailey carded scores of 80 and 81, tying for 24th and 33rd place, respectively. Taylor Lamphier rounded out the five Mastodons in attendance with a first-round 83, tying for 53rd place in the field.
The teams return to the course tomorrow for the second and final round of the tournament.
