Mastodons Stand 13th at Strong Wolf Run Intercollegiate

DAY ONE RESULTS
ZIONSVILLE, Ind. - In a strong field that includes schools from the Big Ten, SEC, MAC, and MVC, the IPFW Mastodons sit in 13th place after the first two rounds of the opening day of the tournament.
Illinois leads the field with a two-round score of 563 (282, 281), and leads the remainder of the field by 25 strokes. Kentucky (588), Auburn (591), Ohio (598), Minnesota (599), Indiana (601), Wisconsin (603), Miami (Ohio) (604), Toledo (614), Oakland (619), IUPUI (626), Illinois State (631) all sit in front of IPFW's 645, while Northern Illinois rounds out the field with a 652.
Leading the way for IPFW was Jacob Groninger, who had the team's best score in each of the first two rounds, shooting an 80 and 75 for a two-round first-day score of 155, tying for 45th place in the field.
Oliver Gibson and Daniel Shepard each shot identical 81's in both rounds, good for a 162, tying for 63rd place among the individuals in the field.
Sam Hardwick shot rounds of 85 and 81 for a 166, each round sitting either as the fourth golfer, or a tie for the fourth golfer, tying for 69th in the field after the first day. Dan Wert rounds out the Mastodons in the field with rounds of 85 and 84, and his 169 puts him 76th overall.
The teams return to the course tomorrow for the second and final day of competition at Wolf Run Golf Club.
