Groninger Cards Even Par Final Round at Wolf Run Intercollegiates

FINAL RESULTS
ZIONSVILLE, Ind. - Behind an even-par final round from junior Jacob Groninger, the IPFW Mastodons took 13th at the Wolf Run Intercollegaite hosted at the Wolf Run Golf Club.
Illinois ran away from the field, carding each of the three lowest team scores of the tournament, and ended the three rounds with a team score of 844. Auburn took second with an 877, while Kentucky rounded out the top three with an 882. Minnesota (894), Indiana (896), Miami (Ohio) (902), Toledo (905), Wisconsin (906), Ohio (912), IUPUI (916), Illinois State (931), and Oakland all finished just ahead of IPFW's 954, with Northern Illinois shooting a 968 for 14th place.
Jacob Groninger shot an increasingly better score throughout his three rounds, carding scores of 80, 75, and 71, the latter of the three reaching even par. His 226 placed him into a tie for 28th in the field.
Oliver Gibson's 77 was his best score of the tournament, and his 239 put him in a tie for 58th place. Dan Wert shot a 78, good for the third best score on the day for the squad, and his 247 was the fourth-best tournament score, placing him 70th overall.
Daniel Shepard shot an 83 on the final round, giving him 245 strokes for the three rounds, 69th place. Sam Hardwick tied for fourth on the squad with a final-round 83, and his 249 stroke total placed him in a tie for 72nd in the field.
The Mastodons return to action in a week when the squad travels to Cleveland, Ohio, to compete in the Cleveland State Invitational hosted at the Canterbury Golf Club.
