FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW women's soccer team closes its five-game season-opening home stretch on Friday evening, when the squad hosts the Miami RedHawks at 7:30 p.m. at the Hefner Soccer Complex.

The IPFW Mastodons saw their two-match win streak snapped on Monday, September 2 against Butler via a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Bulldogs.
Leading the team in scoring this season is freshman Gaby Romo, who has scored two goals, while Hailey Mariotti and Brooke Bishir have each scored once. Three players - Delia Soucie, Andie Lazzerini, and Erin Gill - each have one assist.
Defensively the Mastodons are led by sophomore goalkeeper Sam Pavlika who has a 0.95 goals against average, with 22 saves and a pair of shutouts.

The Redhawks come into the Friday evening meeting having not allowed a goal for just over 200 minutes, with the team's last goal coming on August 23 against Illinois State.
After the team's 3-2 loss at Illinois State, Miami shut out Valparaiso 1-0 and Belmont 5-0. Leading the team is Kayla Zakrzewski, who has three goals, while Kelsey Dinges has scored twice. Three others - Katy Dolesh, Taylor Jackson, and Jenna Weiner - each have one goal scored.
Each of the team's five assists have come from five different players, as the RedHawks have out-scored their opponents 8-3 this season. Goalkeeper Allison Norenberg has been in goal for the entire 270 minutes of the season, with a 1.00 goals against average and a pair of shutouts.

IPFW won the only previous meeting between the two teams, 1-0 in double overtime last season. Dani Bishop scored the match's only goal with 2:31 remaining in extra time.

• Over the last two seasons, IPFW has lost 10 matches, with seven of those losses coming by one goal.
• The last time someone other than Sam Pavlika has been in goal for IPFW was October 30, 2011, as the sophomore spent all 1,763-plus minutes of last season in goal, and in the first four regular season matches of the 2013 season she spent all 377:14 between the pipes.
• Pavlika's current career 1.05 goals against average stands as the lowest in school history, while her 103 saves are tied for sixth-most with Malinda Holmer. Next on the list is Jodi Schnelker, who had 114 for her career.
• IPFW's five straight home matches to start the 2013 season is the longest stretch of home matches in program history. Additionally, IPFW will have had eight straight regular season matches at the Hefner Soccer Complex, as the squad ended the year with three straight home contests.
• IPFW is hosting the 2013 Summit League Women's Soccer Championships on November 8 and 10.
• Gaby Romo is tied for third in the Summit League with her two goals scored, and seventh in total points with seven. Sam Pavlika ranks fourth in saves and fourth in goals against average.
• Head Coach Margaret Saurin's 31 career wins are second most in IPFW history, behind only Terry Stefankiewicz' 36.
• Five different players (Kat Sutherly, Kiley Dunning, Rachel Good, Kennedy Williams, and Kathryn Jenkins) are the first players in program history to wear their respective numbers.
