Seibert and Hyde Lead 'Dons to Victory In Double Overtime

FARGO, N.D. - In the clutch, Amanda Hyde stepped up and showed why she is the reigning Summit League Player of the Year. She hit a pair of free throws at the end of regulation and a three-pointer at the end of the first overtime to help lift the IPFW women's basketball team to a 98-89 double overtime win over North Dakota State.

Hyde earned her third double-double of the season as she finished with a game-high 35 points and 10 rebounds to go with a game-high five assists and two steals. Hyde connected on 12-of-19 shots from the floor and was a perfect 9-of-9 at the free throw line.

Stefanie Mauk also nabbed her first double-double of the season - the second of her career - with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Haley Seibert capped off her night with a season-best 28 points, hitting 13-of-15 from the charity stripe.

North Dakota State would hold the early lead as the teams exchanged several leads throughout the first half. The two sides would keep things close until the Mastodons scored seven points in 52 seconds, taking a 33-26 lead with under four minutes to play. Seibert would drain a three-pointer with 14 seconds remaining to send the 'Dons into the locker room with a 42-36 lead.

Hyde would hit the opening basket of the second half to give IPFW an eight point lead. With the Mastodon lead still at eight, the Bison would go on a 10-2 run to tie the game at 50 with 13:22 to play in the contest.

Seibert would connect on five free throws in the final two minutes, giving the 'Dons a 74-73 lead with 42 seconds to play; however, North Dakota State would answer with a jumper and a free throw to take a two point lead with eight seconds to go, setting up the heroics from the Mastodon senior. Hyde connected on two free throws with three-tenths of a second left on the clock to tie the game at 76 and send the game into overtime.

The 'Dons would jump out to a four-point lead twice in the first overtime before NDSU rallied to tie the score at 82-82. The Bison would follow with a jumper and a free throw to lead by three with 24 seconds to play. Once again it was Hyde coming up clutch for the Mastodons, as she hit a three-pointer with just four seconds to play, tying the game at 85 and sending it to a second overtime.

The second extra period saw the teams trade baskets in the opening minutes. With the score tied at 89, Hyde would hit a jumper to give the 'Dons the lead for good. IPFW closed the game out with a 10-0 run, holding the Bison scoreless in the final 3:59.

On the night, IPFW connected on 29-of-69 from the field, 8-of-25 from behind the arc, and 32-of-40 at the charity stripe.

The 'Dons will take tomorrow off before returning to action on Saturday as they take on defending conference champs South Dakota State at 5 p.m. (EST).
