Spencer Named Athlete of the Month...
The Summit League selected Emily Spencer as the Female Athlete of the Month for August/September. It was her first career Athlete of the Month award.
On Sept. 17 against Ball State, Spencer moved into second place in league history for all-time kills. She ended the month with 1,771 career kills. In the Mastodon's next match at Toledo, she recorded a career-best 30 kills while hitting .424 in a five-set loss to the Rockets. In a sweep at South Dakota State on Sept. 28, Spencer hit a career-high .571, finishing with 13 kills and one error on 21 attempts. She recorded double-digit kills in all 15 matches with 20 or more coming in five of those while registering eight kill-dig double-doubles. For the month, Spencer averaged 4.77 kills per set, a .268 hitting percentage, 2.79 digs per set and 5.34 points per set.
Spencer Keeps Going...and Going...and going...
Emily Spencer has run her consecutive matches in double-digit kills to 39, a program record. Spencer's streak began on Sept. 17, 2013 against Eastern Michigan. She eclipsed former Mastodon Fabiana Souza's mark of 26 straight from Nov. 15, 2002 through Oct. 18, 2003. Spencer also had a streak of 24 matches to begin her career during the 2011 season. She also previously had a 23 consecutive match streak from Sept. 18, 2012 through Sept. 4, 2013.
Climbing the Career Ladder...
Not only is Emily Spencer climbing the IPFW career rankings in kills, she also currently ranks 2nd among all active women's volleyball players with 1,826 kills. Her total trails only Edina Begic of UALR. Spencer was one just six juniors in the top 50 active kill leaders at the end of the 2013 season.

Double Century Club...
On November 16, 2013 at home against North Dakota State, Emily Spencer became the 8th player in school history to amass 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. Kendall Wienkes needs 110 kills to join the club.
