Volleyball Comes From Behind To Win On the Road at Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. - After trailing two sets to one, the IPFW women's volleyball earned a come from behind victory on the road at Omaha, 3-2 (25-18, 22-25, 23-25, 25-17, 15-9).
The win improves the Mastodons to 3-2 in The Summit League and 9-10 on the year.
Emily Spencer and Kendall Wienkes led the 'Dons on the afternoon with their 11th and sixth double-doubles of the season, respectively. Spencer led all players with a match-high 21 kills, her 40th consecutive match in double figures, to go along with 13 digs, and two aces. Wienkes capped off the day with 15 kills and 14 digs. Somer Johnson contributed nine digs and eight kills to the effort.
Madison Spence led IPFW with 25 assists while Mallory Slyder dished out 20 in the match. Defensively, Olivia Hahn ended the match with 12 digs. Sarah Heckman and Natasha Medic led the Mastodons with four blocks each.
With IPFW trailing 5-4 in the opening set, the 'Dons used a 10-4 run to take the lead for good. The Mastodons fell behind 3-0 in the second set and were unable to recover as Omaha led wire-to-wire. The 'Dons again were unable to overcome an early Mavs lead in the third set.
The fourth set was all IPFW as the Mastodons led wire-to-wire, never allowing the Mavericks to tie the score. In the decisive fifth set, Omaha scored the opening point before the 'Dons answered with three consecutive points. The Mastodons never trailed again as they scored three of the final four points to earn the comeback victory.
IPFW returns home to host in-state rival IUPUI on October 14 with first serve set for 7 p.m.
