
IPFW to Finish 2014 Against Mustangs

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The IPFW men's basketball team closes out its 2014 calendar year on Tuesday evening when the team hosts the Mustangs of Cal Poly in the second game of a women's / men's doubleheader.

SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
The IPFW Mastodons snapped a two-game losing skid with an 80-46 victory over the Eagles of Judson University on Sunday evening.
In the game against Judson, Joe Reed scored a game-high 18 points, while Jure Gunjina and Brent Calhoun each set career-highs with 12 points apiece. Calhoun (7) and Herbert Graham (6) set career-highs in rebounding while leading the team, as Michael Calder dished out six assists for a game- and career-high.
Despite missing the last three games with injury, senior forward Steve Forbes leads the team in scoring with 136 total points, an average of 15.1 points per game. Joe Edwards has also scored 136 points this year, averaging 11.3, while Isaiah McCray has scored 10.7 points per game. Reed, behind is effort against Judson, jumped to a double-figure average at 10.5. Mo Evans sits one point shy of the double-figure scoring effort, averaging 9.9 points per game.
The Mastodons out-rebound their opponents by an average of nearly a half rebound per game, and are led by Forbes (7.0) and McCray (5.9), while Evans leads the team with 41 assists. McCray has blocked 13 assists from his guard position - which ranks in the top-250 in the NCAA - while also leading the team with 19 steals.
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
Cal Poly comes to Fort Wayne after traveling over 2,300 miles from its home between San Francisco and Los Angeles, riding a one-game win streak from a 69-58 victory at Santa Clara.
The Mustangs are near the tail end of a seven-game road swing that will in all encompass over 12,000 miles with trips from San Luis Obispo, CA to Fresno, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Seattle, Fort Wayne, and Honolulu, Hawai'i.
In the team's win over Santa Clara, Reese Morgan and Ridge Shipley each scored 11 points, while David Nwaba scored 10. Aleks Abrams pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds, as the Mustangs out-rebounded Santa Clara 36-to-26 in the game.
For the year the Mustangs are paced by Nwaba, who has scored in double-digits in each of the 10 games he has played in, and averages 14.9 points per game. Brian Bennett averages 11.6 points, with Morgan averaging 10.2 in 10 games on the year.
Maliik Love has dished out a team-best 35 assists, while as a team the Mustangs have committed just 93 turnovers, 8.5 per game, both of which lead NCAA Division I. The teams' 93 turnovers are five better than Bryant (who has played just eight games), and the average is 0.1 better than Wisconsin.
Bennett and Joel Awich averaged 6.2 and 5.5 rebounds per game, respectively, to lead the team, as Awich also has a team-best 13 blocked shots.
