Mastodons Connect on 16 Three-Pointers In Victory

CHICAGO - The IPFW women's basketball team shot a combined 16-for-23 (69.6%) from beyond the three-point arc as the Mastodons defeated Chicago State 79-62. The win improves the 'Dons to 3-4 on the season.
Haley Seibert led all players as she tied a season-high with 24 points, including six three-pointers and was a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line. Kamilah Carter capped off the afternoon with 17 points while Courtney Ogle scored 14 points. Seibert, Carter, and Ogle combined to make 13 of the Mastodon's 16 three-pointers. Seibert and Carter each dished out a game-high four assists. Keanna Gary led the 'Dons with five rebounds.
As a team, IPFW's 16 three-pointers are tied for third most in program history, two behind the record of 18 set on February 15, 2001, at Missouri-St. Louis. The Mastodons shot 50 percent from the field in the first half and finished the game shooting 24-for-49 from the floor and 15-of-17 at the free throw line.
With an early three-point lead, IPFW opened up the game with a 12-0 run over a 3:45 span to take a 17-2 lead with 12:00 left in the half. The Mastodon lead never dipped back to single-digits again as they led by as many as 24 points in the first half, and headed into halftime with a 38-17 advantage.
The 'Dons extended their lead to 27 points in the second half, as Ogle connected from downtown to give IPFW a 61-34 advantage with 8:31 to go in the game. The Mastodons lead never dropped below 16 points in the second half as they cruised to the 17-point victory.
IPFW returns to the court on December 6 to host Northern Kentucky for a 4:30 p.m. tip-off.
