'Dons Shoot 307 In Second Round Of Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The IPFW men's golf team shot a second round 307 at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate, three strokes better than the first round, as the Mastodons sit in 25th place.
Hosted by The College of William & Mary at the par-70 River Course at the Kingsmill Resort, the course is being played at 6,765 yards. Texas Tech sits atop the team leaderboard, shooting a 278 on the day for a two-round score of 566. Ryan Rettberg of Radford leads the 141-player field with a two-day score of 136
The Mastodons two-day score of 619 sits two shots back of Delaware. All five IPFW golfers recorded at least one birdie in the morning session. Carter Dornseif and Jacob Groninger led the team with two each; both recording a birdie on the par-5 No. 7.
Dornseif led IPFW on the day, carding a 4-over-par 74 for the second straight round to sit in a tie for 44th place with a two round score of 148. Sitting one stroke back on the day was Groninger who shot a 75 for the round, to sit in 13th place overall with a two-day score of 144. Daniel Shepard finished the round with a 80 for a two-day total of 163 to be tied for 131st. Drake Devereux sits in 133rd place after making an eight-shot improvement from the first round, shooting a 78 for the day. Devin Jenkins carded an 86 for the second straight day and is in 140th place.
The final round of the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate will be an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start on March 25 at the Kingsmill Resort - The River Course.
