Groninger Finishes Second to Lead IPFW Golfers

PEKIN, Ill. - IPFW men's golfer Jacob Groninger picked up a second place finish at the Bradley Invitational, shooting a 3-under-par 141 for the tournament to lead IPFW to a seventh place finish with a team score of 601.
Hosted by Bradley University at the par-72 Pekin Country Club, the course was played at 6,832 yards. Evansville took home the team title with a two-day score of 579. Seth Trolia of Bradley earned medalist honors with a 5-under-par 139.
IPFW finished two strokes out of sixth place behind Green Bay. Groninger was one of six players to finish the 36-holes under par.
Carter Dornseif shot a 76 for the second straight day, carding a 152 for the tournament to finish in a tie for 28th. Dan Wert improved by one stroke over his first day score, recording a 76 for the round, tying for 31st with a tournament total 153. Daniel Shepard finished the two-day tournament in a tie for 38th, shooting an 82 for the round to finish with a 157. Oliver Gibson rounded out the team scoring for the 'Dons shooting an 83 on the day, carding a 158 to finish tied for 40th.
IPFW will play in its final tournament before the Summit League Championships as the Mastodons travel to Indiana University for the two-day Nyx Invitational beginning on April 12.
