Spencer Enters the Octagon...
Emily Spencer was named The Summit League's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for her performance September 2-7.
Spencer earned her eighth career Offensive Player of the Week award, which ranks second in Summit League history, after leading IPFW to a 2-1 record at the Flyer-Raider Invitational. The senior outside hitter had double-digit kills in all three matches to move into third place in league history with 1,603 career kills. She had 16 kills in the sweep of Bakersfield and followed that up with 15 kills and a .314 hitting clip in the loss to Eastern Kentucky. She added 10 kills in the sweep of Bowling Green on Saturday. She was second on her Mastodon team with three service aces. For the week, Spencer averaged 4.56 kills with a .232 hitting percentage to go along with her three aces and five assists (0.56 a/s).
Climbing the Career Ladder...
Not only is Emily Spencer climbing the IPFW career rankings in kills, she also currently ranks 2nd among all active women's volleyball players with 1,616 kills. Her total trails only Edina Begic of UALR. Spencer was one just six juniors in the top 50 active kill leaders at the end of the 2013 season.

On November 16, 2013 at home against North Dakota State, Emily Spencer became the 8th player in school history to amass 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. Kendall Wienkes needs 218 kills, and 94 digs to join the club.
